Johannes Schaedlich

(born in 1957; Bad Sachsa/Germany) is bassist (on both double bass and electric), composer and teacher; professionally working since the early 1980 years.

 

- 1964 first lessons on violin; picked up the electric bass in 1972.
- Since 1978 studies and workshops a. o. with Adelhard Roidinger, Peter Bockius, Sigi Busch, Arild Andersen, Paul Imm.
- Classical studies with Roland Funk (born R. Wild), Helmut Hofmann and Walter Rillig at the music academies in Karlsruhe and Mannheim (from 1980). - Studied jazz with Sigi Busch at the Hamburg University of Music (from 1982).

 

- Worked with (since around 1982) Lee Konitz, Peter Erskine, Enrico Pieranunzi, Bobby Shew, Adam Nussbaum, Hal Galper, Doug Raney, Duško Gojković, Tony Lakatos, Mauro Martins, Vahagn Hayrapetyan, Bob Degen, Keith Copeland, Louis Stewart, Glenn Miller Big Band NL, Cécile Verny, Bill Ramsey, Pony Poindexter, Peter Kosch, Joe Haider, Wolfgang Lauth, Jochen Brauer, Janusz Stefański, Kuba Stankiewicz, Zbigniew Namysłowski, John Stowell, Wolfgang Engstfeld, Francois Chassagnitte, Habib Koité, Toumani Diabaté, Artur Dudkiewicz, Joe Gallardo, Ernie Hammes, Sandy Patton, Greetje Kauffeld, Lauren Newton, Özay, Maria Joao and many others.

- Appeared on festivals in San Sebastian, Brügge, Luzern, Wien, Pisa, Heidelberg, Berlin, Saigon, Leverkusen, Vannes (Frankreich), Mannheim, Frankfurt/M., Saarbrücken, St. Ingbert, Garana (Rumänien) and many others.

 

- Toured USA, France, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, 1991 Tour to Russia and Kyrgyzstan. Toured 2003 for Goethe-Institute through eight West African Countries (from Senegal to Cameroon) with various bands. 2005 Vietnam-Tour.

- Since 1995 temporarily teaching double bass and electric bass at the Musikhochschule Mannheim (Jazz-Departement).

- teacher for double bass and electric at the local music school Weinheim/Bergstrasse 1996 - 2003.

- Lecturer on Workshops in Poland, the Czech Republic and in Germany

 

- Member of Jury at Jazz Competitions of German Federal States Rheinland/Pfalz and Hessen.

 

Johannes Schaedlich grew up in Goslar, lived since 1976 in Brunswick, Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Hamburg, Mannheim and since 1992 in Frankenthal/Pfalz.
